Thank you for posting this. I knew there was a difference but I never thought of the different ways of looking at the word writer. And I do enjoy the journey!
I have always thought that the most profoundly important things in life are truly the simplest. Sometimes those simple things are difficult to see without someone pointing them out to you. Thanks for his video! I'm working on my 12th book now and I'm as guilty as anyone who worries about the road ahead and not the path they are on – thanks.
Thanks, Jon. The analogy of the journey vs the destination resonates with me. I'm definitely a Journey person and will from now on refer to myself as a children's book writer. I've recently wondered which one I should be using! How did you know?
Thank you so much for doing this video. Imagining the end product is oftentimes so overwhelming to me that I lose any ability to just focus on the page in front of me! Writing is delicious and fun and I have to keep the process in mind.
Thanks, Jon, for posting this. It was great. I especially enjoyed the idea of the word writer being in the present tense. Simple concept; big implications.
I definitely agree with this! I have just recently started writing, even though I wanted to for a long time, because I guess I finally felt like I had a story to tell. At any rate, when I began this journey, I read a lot of things about "revision" and it sounded like such a daunting task – I thought I would hate it! I thought I would not be able to take something that is, let's face it, already perfect of course, and change it – cut it, snip it, twist it – ugh, the thought was awful. But I've started the "revision," the "polishing," and it is So. Much. FUN! I love seeing my book get better, seeing it be less boring, less confusing, less "badly written," and more like something that I would actually want to read, if someone else wrote it!
So the journey, as it were, is not only important, but if I have found it to be fun, as well.
Hi Jon, thanks for clarifying the terms. I guess I'm both since I have finished work and new. But I enjoy the journey of writing a lot more than the marketing end of it.
